Jerusalem: Myths and Realities
Israel will soon be celebrating Jerusalem Day, the annual holiday on the 28th of the Hebrew month of Iyar that marks the Israel Defense Forces’ capture of East Jerusalem in June 1967. As the date approaches, we can expect Israel’s leadership – as it does every Jerusalem Day – to hail the reunification of the city during the Six Day War and to invoke the mantra that Jerusalem is Israel’s “eternal and united capital city.”
But how united is “united Jerusalem”?
