Partners for Progressive Israel had a fascinating conversation with Galia Golan this morning.
Golan is a professor at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. She is the founder of the M.A. program in Diplomacy and Conflict Studies and the Women’s Studies department at Hebrew university, and currently runs the MA program in Government.
Galia has written ten books on international relations and the Middle East. She has been a consultant to the IDF and Foreign Ministry and is the recipient of the Israel Political Science Association Award for Lifetime Achievement. She is also a member of multiple editorial boards including the Israel Journal of Foreign Policy, and the International Feminist Journal of Politics.
Professor Golan has been a member of Peace Now from the first days in 1978 and was among the founders of Bat Shalom during the 1990’s, which is a joint body for Palestinian and Israeli women. Additionally, she was among the first members of Meretz in 1992 and is today, she is a member of the board of The International Women’s Commission for Israel-Palestinian Peace.
