Partners for Progressive Israel had a Conference Call today with Naomi Chazan. Chazan is a highly knowledgeable and perceptive speaker and the conversation is worth listening to.
Naomi Chazan is professor emerita of Political Science and African Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and Dean of the School of Government and Society at the Academic College of Tel-Aviv-Yaffo. She holds a BA and MA from Columbia University and a PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.Naomi Chazan was first elected to the Knesset in 1992 on the Meretz ticket and was a Knesset Member for three terms. She served as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset and was a member of the Economics, Foreign Affairs and Defense, Education, Immigration, and Status of Women committees.She served as president of the New Israel Fund from 2008-2012. Chazan currently serves as Dean of the School of Government and Society at the Academic College of Tel-Aviv-Yaffo and as Director of the Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem.
