“School’s Out” – Hopefully Not Forever:
On Israel’s Practice of School Demolition in the Occupied Palestinian Territory
ubb Al Dhib Elementary. The Umm Qusah School. The Khashem al Karem school. These are the names of just a few of the dozens of Palestinian K-12 schools in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem which either have been demolished by Israel already, or have received notice of impending demolition. One of the more underreported aspects of Israel’s occupation is its pernicious impact on Palestinian schoolchildren and their right to education. On Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 12:30pm EDT, to throw much-needed light on this issue, we were joined by:
* Ms. Nisreen Malley, Senior Advocacy Coordinator for the Rebuilding Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing equal rights for the Palestinian people through education and advocacy
* Mr. Mousa Salah, a partner of the Rebuilding Alliance, whose family donated the land southeast of Bethlehem for the now-demolished Jubb Al Dhib School
The discussion was moderated by Partners for Progressive Israel Vice President, Gili Getz.
